Issue:
This leading contract manufacturer of consumer based products had the vision to move the organization towards world-class utilizing lean enterprise systems. The organization was looking to make significant gains in capacity, output, and quality without the benefit of major capital expenditures. Space utilization study needed to be completed due to very limited storage and production square footage.
Scope:
Assess a major product line of the company and identify opportunities to improve performance, reduce waste and better utilize space.
Approach:
Complete a detailed assessment including waste analysis, space analysis, value stream mapping, interviews and observations. Work jointly with client project team to develop recommendations and improvement action plan.
Results:
Assessment completed on-time and on budget.
Recommendations, cost and resources identified to move organization toward World-Class.
Clearly identified bottleneck operations and major obstacles to productivity and capacity. Developed new visual tools for the analysis of production capability and staffing.
Co-developed project team structure, reporting process and quality review format.
Client organization accepted assessment findings and engaged Optima to support implementation.
